Next to food, shelter and clothing, definitely comes education. Every child in a civilized world, should
be given that basic opportunity to a formal education. Without education, one would be at a lost;
lost to compete in the outside world; lost in being someone; lost being a human being.
Relating his own personal experience as a child from a 'poor' family, IPDG Dato' Yeow came out
with his bright and noble idea of setting up an educational fund for the very poor students, students
who could not afford to further their studies at tertiary level. From a humble spark, he managed to
gather tremendous support from all Lions alike, to embark on a beneficial mammoth project of the
district; a project that some thought would not materialize. But with his persistence and
perseverance, he successfully set up the Lions Education Aid for the Needy Fund. A Fund that
would need RM1 million to be approved by the Registrar of Company for a start-up fund. Within a
span of about 5 months, his target achieved; much to his surprise as well. Even the members of the
public chipped in. The district is now on a homeward journey to identify and disseminate this fund to
deserving students.
This is one of the long-tern projects of the district, and it is with fervent hope that the Lions Clubs will continue to support and
contribute towards the fund so that many more of these students would benefit. As education is an ongoing phenomenon, our
goal is to see that an educated child is our future endeavour. Let's keep the beacon of hope shining brightly for these people.
Together we can serve as one and more so, we believe we can do it.
