About LEArN Fund
Lions Education Assistance for the Needy (LEArN) Fund is a newly established education foundation initiated by the Lions Clubs
International District 308B1. Its objective is to provide study aids to the needy Malaysian students who aspire to further their
studies regardless of race and religion.
Founder, Dato’ Yeow Wah Chin has expressed his concern over the lack of public and government financial assistance for
students who did not obtain outstanding results, but have scored averagely well in SPM, STPM or its equivalent to further their
studies.
He reckons the importance for students to complete their tertiary education, especially when it has become a competitive edge in
earning for a decent living in the current society. Generally, he believes that every student should be given a fair course to excel
in the process of learning. Financial difficulty could be one of the indirect obstacles to an outstanding performance of a student
in school.
Hence, LEArN is very willing to take the edge off the burden of students from poor families who did not manage in achieving
outstanding or excellent results in school and government examinations, but have scored averagely well and qualified for an
entry to any of the recognised institutions of higher learning in Malaysia.
